The grey steel center and outside pieces were cut on a metal cutting bandsaw and the edges were sanded smooth. The surface texture was created by sandblasting and a final clear coat was applied. The shiny pieces in the center including the screws are all stainless steel. The five long pieces were hand curved and shaped and all pieces were polished to a mirror finish.

The shape of the mirror was first cut with a glass cutter, then refined with a diamond impregnated glass grinding bit. Finally, the edges were finished by sanding...a very time consuming task!

The stainless steel screws in the center pass through the metal, the mirror, and finally a 3/4" thick piece of Medium Density Fiberboard (which gives the mirror structural strength) and nuts are threaded on to hold all pieces together.
 
On the back is a braided stainless steel cable attached all the way around enabeling the mirror to be rotated 360° to find the preferred hanging position of the functional art Flower mirror.
